The elderly may find it difficult to communicate his/her needs or wishes or to understand information about the options available. The advocate helps them make the right choice for them. This might be, for example, accessing information on legal rights, discussing medication and/or treatment options or general care. We can help make a complaint.
WordsWorth Independent Advocacy Service will assist in obtaining the highest quality of care to meet individual needs. Senior citizens need a trusted, independent source through which to access what is available to achieve this goal.
We support senior citizens
- to report physical difficulties, including abuse in any form
- to report sexual abuse, such as assault or any form of unwanted sexual approach.
- to report financial abuse, such as stealing, fraud or extortion
- to report mental abuse, such as being treated like a child or humiliated insulted, frightened or threatened.
An advocate’s independent role is crucial and his/her sole responsibility is to the resident. We will support their views and wishes without judging and without adding our personal opinion.
Our advocates are trained to work with people with learning disabilities, dementia, a mental health problem or an acquired brain injury.
